What Should I Buy?

I love summer. Who doesn't?

(If the answer's you? We can't be friends.)

Summer means a great many things to me, but the one thing that's on my mind lately is DRESSES! I used to wear almost exclusively dresses in the summer. I just love how cool they are (both in terms of style AND temperature!) and how easy they are. I mean, throw on one piece of clothing and you're done? Heck yeah!

After I had my girls, though, I didn't wear dresses hardly at all. It's just not feasible to wear dresses while running around and playing with kids, or spending lots of time spread-eagled on the floor changing baby's diapers.

This cuteness was worth it, though.
This was for Pink Day at preschool. Pardon the awful tennis shoes, but they work best for the kids when they're on the playground.

Now that the girls are bigger, I'm itching to get back into the world of dresses.

Problem?

I want them all!

Help me pick one!
(although I'll be honest, I'll probably end up buying them all before long)

So maybe I should just ask which one I should buy first.

Yeah, that seems more truthful.

Let's get to it, shall we?

First up is a cutie from A Cut Above Boutique
It's called Miss Anchor-Black & Cream, and can be found HERE. I love this one for several reasons. I love the uber-trendy chevron pattern, but I also think it looks like something my Mom would've worn in the early 80's. And I mean that as a compliment. It looks retro. Vintage-y. Although I really hate that the 80's are now retro and vintage. Good googamooga I feel old.

I also love that this dress would look awesome in the winter with a blazer and black tights. This dress can get some mileage. Gotta appreciate that.

Next up is this lovely from Impressions Boutique.
It's called the Traffic Stopper and can be found HERE. I can't stop thinking about this dress, which normally would mean that I would have bought it by now. The only thing stopping me is the fact that the belly area in this picture looks a little poochy. Don't you think? Lord knows I don't need a poochy belly. Pregnancy rumors would fly faster than John Travolta to a massage parlor.

I kid, I kid.

I'm betting that pooch is coming from her legs being one in front of the other and it's just the angle the dress is falling into.

Still. It makes me hesitate.

Hmmm... I want it pretty badly, though. Maybe a belt would fix it? If so, what color belt would go with it? White, maybe? Ooohhh! I know! Gold! With some gold sandals! Alright. I think I just talked myself into this one.

Last but not least is this one from Vestique:

It's called Don't Be Alarmed in Coral, and you can find it HERE. I really wanted this one in mint, but as usual, I've hesitated so long that it's already sold out. I knew I should've bought it as soon as I saw it! I'll kick myself for that for a while. At least until they restock.

So what do you think?? Which one should I choose? Leave your vote in the comments below, or find me on twitter

I also want to give these great shops some more plugs so here's all the places they can be found:

A Cut Above Boutique:

Impressions Boutique:

Vestique:
Just for the record, none of these shops have the slightest clue who I am and I have not received anything in return for this post. I just love their dresses!

Have a great Thursday! We have Big Girl's dance recital practice tonight, and then we're going to a BBQ, Blues, and Bourbon event at our country club (without the girls, obvs). Should be interesting!

  1. i like the first! i'm not a fan of the colors of the second, and while the third is gorgeous, I think it is too dressy for you to get a ton of use out of. #1 could be dressed up or down.

    1. That's a good point! Being so versatile is what I really love about that one. Thanks for the vote!
