Tag: Ready for Christmas

Hey! Look at me! 3 days in a row! Maybe I can make it a whole week. Well, maybe I shouldn't jinx myself.

I decided to do a holiday that I saw on Elle Fowler's YouTube vlog page. Here's a link to her blog, for those of you who don't YouTube.

Questions:
1. What's Your Favorite Holiday Movie?
My all time favorite Christmas movie is Miracle on 34th Street. I love it, love it, love it. Even though it's my favorite, there's one movie that I look forward to more than any other EVERY SINGLE YEAR, and I just can't get enough of it: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. ACK! I LOVE IT SOOO MUCH! I quote that movie all year long. Even when we're at the beach, you'll hear, "You serious, Clark?" About 85 times. There's another quote that gets used around here pretty often, but it's a little too off color to write out. I'm sure most of you have seen the movie and know what I'm talking about.
Honorable mentions go to Elf and How The Grinch Stole Christmas (which just so happens to be my ringtone right now).
2. What's Your Favorite Christmas Color?
Are there Christmas colors other than red and green? I don't know of any. I'll stick with those. I guess I could say red and gold, since that's the theme of our GIGANTIC Christmas tree.
3. Do You Like To Stay in Your PJs Or Dress Up For Christmas?
We don't really do either one of these for Christmas. We visit family, so we don't stay in our PJs, but we don't get real dressed up, either. I have a cousin (by marriage) whose family does the fancy Christmas Eve dinner, and I've always wanted to do something like that. I think it would be so neat to get the girls dressed up in some frilly dresses and put on a swanky dress and have a lovely family dinner. Our lifestyle doesn't really lend itself to that kind of thing, though, so we just spend Christmas in regular clothes. Since I'm a stay at home mom, though, I spend most days in my PJs. I guess the fact that I'm wearing "real" clothes at Christmas falls into the "dress up" category for me!
4. If You Could Only Buy One Person a Present This Year Who Would It Be?
I can't possibly answer this question. I have 2 girls! There's no way to pick one over the other. So, here's what I'll say. If I could only buy one gift this year, I'd buy another trip to Disney World and take us all back there!
5. Do You Open Your Present Christmas Eve Or Christmas Morning?
We open Christmas morning. My husband always wants to do it Christmas Eve, though, so I'm debating starting the tradition of letting everyone open one present on Christmas Eve. Maybe next year.
6. Have You Ever Built a Ginger Bread House?
No, I haven't. I almost got one of those kits to build with the girls this year, but I just thought that was just too much of a mess right now. I'd like to think we could do it next year, but I bet it will still be too much of a mess-making opportunity.
7. What Do You Like To Do On Your Christmas Break?
Um... I don't get one of those anymore.
8. Any Christmas Wishes?
Just to give wonderful memories to my girls. I have the greatest memories of Christmas when I was growing up, and I can only hope that my girls will love it as much as I did (do!). Christmas tends to get stressful and hectic, and I just want my girls to remember how fun it is and have a great time with their family, rather than see me get too upset about gift-giving or the travel we do. I am really trying to make an effort to not feel stressed, and to certainly not show any stress. Only magical and happy thoughts around here!
9. Favorite Christmas Smell?
I love the smell of a real Christmas tree. My mom makes something called spice tea, and I love to smell it cooking on the stove. I also love all the Christmas scented candles that are out this time of year. I know that's artificial, but they make me happy, so I have to include them with my list of favorites.
10. Favorite Christmas Meal Or Treat?
My Meme used to make something called Pecan Tassies that I waited all year for. They were the highlight of my year! Since my Meme has passed, I have gotten Pecan Tassies from other people, but it's just not the same. Every one of them are delicious, but they're just not my Meme's, you know?

I will come back later and tag some blogs to do this, too, but I just wanted to go ahead and get it up for now. Toodle-loo!

Whoo Hoo! Go me!

I deserve a pat on the back today! Not only have a posted two days in a row, but I achieved BOTH of my goals for today! I got up before dawn, got myself together, and was able to get to Target, get my shopping done, and still make it church! Go me!

Since I STILL don't have all of my Christmas shopping done, I also deserve a slap on the hand. But since I prefer the whoo hoos, I'm going to stick with those for now. Neener neener.

Bad blogger, BAD!

Gee whiz, it's been a long time since I've posted! I honestly have the desire to post something daily, but it just doesn't happen. I get to the end of the day and realize I haven't blogged, but then I don't take the time to do it then, either. Grrrr....

I decided today to post something, no matter what it was. I just wanted to give a bit of an explanation of my absence, but I really don't have a good one. We just got home from a 10 day trip to Disney World that was AWESOME, so there's that. Plus the fact that I was in full-on Disney planning mode prior to that. And I've had to come down from my Disney high since. Does that do it? Blame Disney. Blame it all on Disney!

Nah, on second thought, don't. It's the most magical place on Earth, right? Let's just keep it that way, and just blame me for being a terrible blogger.

So now on to my dilemma: should I go to church in the morning, or get to the stores bright and early and finish my Christmas shopping?

Alright, alright. I know the answer to that: church. Remember the REASON for those last-minute CHRISTmas gifts I'm buying. I know, I know.

I'll leave you with a quick picture of the MrsMatched clan at Disney World. It seems like we COULD NOT find a place to take a picture that didn't involve a shadow of some kind, so this is the best we got.
